THIS COURSE BEGINS JUNE 3, 2025.
Thank you for your interest in Summer Academy Hybrid Health and Physical Education, a popular program for students in Henrico County Public Schools. Enrollment in the program is capped at 500 students. Priority will be given to students who are missing HPE courses, to ensure they have the credits necessary for graduation. All interested students will need to enter the lottery in order to be selected for the summer course.

Rising and current HCPS high school students
Rising and current CodeRVA, Henrico residents
Current Maggie L. Walker Governor School students, Henrico Residents

June 3, 6:00pm-8:30 pm [VIRTUAL] – 2% of Final Grade
June 24, 3:00-5:30 pm [site TBD] – 2% of Final Grade

Bi-weekly meeting at instructor’s office hours [VIRTUAL]

Daily Internet & Email Access
HCPS issued DELL laptop, or Schoology-compliant computer
Students must comply with HCPS Time Zone deadlines (EST)
Student activity & exercise safety:
Parent/guardian completes Assumption of Risk Form, accepting responsibility for safety and security of at-home/community-based physical activity and fitness.
A helpful tool, called the Physical Activity Readiness Questionnaire (PAR-Q), was developed by the Canadian Society for Exercise Physiology to help people decide whether to consult a physician before beginning (or significantly increasing) an exercise program. You can find it free online, and is similar to your pediatric pre-screenings.
