Scratch is a website that allows you to code. Scratch Jr is very similar, but is geared toward ages 5-7. There is also a free Scratch Jr. app for iPads. Scratch looks very similar to code.org, in the fact that you drag connecting boxes to write the program. Scratch does not have in-depth walk through tutorials like code.org has. The benefit lies in the fact that students can create anything they want.
You can have your students create Scratch accounts! HCPS Teachers, follow these directions to have student's create their own Scratch accounts.
You can start by giving students Scratch cards. These cards show students something Scratch can do and on the reverse side how to make it happen. There are also tutorials built into Scratch. Try any of these activities for step by step directions on creating the project in Scratch.
