Overview
Course was developed to assist adult learners with delivering content through the Schoology LMS virtually during shutdown due to Covid-19.
Challenge
During covid-19 it quickly became evident that our teachers needed training in delivering instruction virtually. Access and organization for students needed to be clear and concise so that all learners could access information as easily as possible.
Students with accommodations needed to be able to navigate the LMS with ease and receive read aloud and video services.
Solution
The leadership team and I identified three topics that adult learners needed to improve on when it came to their LMS use virtually. The first need was using the LMS to post virtual meeting links so that students could access their live class meetings without confusion. The second was delivering content through the LMS system that was organized and easy for all students to navigate. The third was how to create recorded video sessions for students to access later.
I built this asynchronous session in a "I do, you do" style of learning. For each of the three elements mentioned above the adult learned how to use the appropriate tool and then were asked to practice using it.
Result
Teachers were able to add content in an organized way to the LMS Schoology.
Teachers were able to be more creative with how they uploaded content to the LMS.
Students were able to easily navigate their classroom content inside the LMS system.
Students with accommodations received read aloud and visual instruction through the LMS system.
