Overview
Three part course on how to have a plan b if different software systems are malfunctioning during delivery of virtual and hybrid learning.
Challenge
During virtual instruction due to Covid-19, several of our learning platforms would malfunction during class time. Part of my role is helping teachers trouble shoot issues like this, but we wanted to empower them to come up with solutions on their own if they were not able to get in touch with me immediately.
Solution
The learning coach and I came up with a three part series on helping our adults learn how to have a plan b if different learning systems were malfunctioning. Through this session they were able to learn, implement, and reflect.
During the first session adult learners were provided with a chart on how they can use an alternative source if one of our main systems go down.
During the second session I wanted them to apply a plan b to one of their lesson plans. They had to pick out any technology elements in the lesson and list how they would resolve an issue if that technology malfunctioned.
In the third session adult learners came back and reflected on how the implemented a plan b, how they applied their learning, and what they had to adjust.
This session highlights how I believe adults learn by doing. Engaging learning experiences should have the learner work to implement what they are learning.
Result
Teachers were empowered to troubleshoot technology issues on their own during virtual lesson delivery.
Students received consistent content delivery through virtual meeting and LMS Schoology.
