Overview
Every year we provide a day where adult learners can choose their own professional leaning sessions for the day at a central location. This was a course offered at the event on how to make and implement gamification experiences in the classroom. Covers gamification vs game based learning. Adult learners are immersed in a scenario-based game and engage in gamified learning activities.
Challenge
Engaging students in the classroom.
Teaching adult learners strategies for game based learning versus gamification.
Solution
I believe experience is the best way for adult learners to retain information. In this learning session they are immersed in a story scenario where they have to "break out" of a room by completing different games in teams. They received mini badges on their accomplishments throughout the course. This gave them instant takeaways that they could use to engage students in the classroom.
Result
Adult learners left feeling like the had materials, games, and resources to implement game based learning in their classroom.
Students will be more engaged in learning content in the classroom.

Gamification Game Story Website
Adult learners started the course through this website that the game master (facilitator) leads them through. It sets up a scenario based story for the course.
