Juniors: Don't forget that your grades at the end of your Junior year are what colleges see when considering whether to admit you or not. You must submit your transcript (grades from all your years) to colleges to be admitted!
The Deadline is Approaching!!!
The University of Kentucky Department of Civil Engineering will again be hosting Summer Engineering Exploration Kamp (SEEK), one-week residential Kentucky camps (i.e., kamps!) for rising high school seniors. SEEK will feature hands-on learning opportunities, guest speakers from engineering companies, and field trips to active project sites (see the attached flyer). Students will stay in dorms on UK’s campus along with civil engineering college students who will serve as mentors for the kampers. Throughout the week, kampers will engage in activities to learn the fundamentals of civil engineering. SEEK’s emphasis is learning by doing!
Please spread the word to your students. The deadline is approaching fast!

Deadline: April 25, 2025 at 11:59 pm ET
Are your students looking for exciting and impactful learning opportunities this summer? If so, we have an incredible chance for them to work alongside experienced engineering faculty at the J.B. Speed School of Engineering! I am excited to share that we still have a few spots available in our highly anticipated summer camps, but they are filling up quickly, so don’t miss out!
This year, we’re offering a wide range of camps focused on various engineering disciplines, and most of them are either free or available at a significantly reduced cost. It’s an amazing opportunity for students to explore engineering in a hands-on, engaging environment while gaining valuable knowledge and skills that could help shape their academic and career paths.
These camps are designed not only to spark curiosity in the world of engineering but also to inspire students to pursue careers in STEM fields. Whether your students are new to engineering or have some experience, these camps will provide them with the tools, resources, and support they need to succeed.
I encourage you to share this information with your students and their families, as these opportunities are too good to miss. If you have any questions or need further details about the summer camps, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me directly. I’m here to help!

What is CHA?
CHA is a three-week program for high-achieving junior students held every June on Murray State's campus.
Students attending CHA earn
6 hours of college-level honors credit,
$2,000 housing scholarship if they attend Murray State after graduation, and
the ability to take two more classes tuition-free during their senior year.
More importantly, students have the opportunity to live and learn with their peers from across the region in an exciting living-learning environment.
NEW THIS YEAR
Murray State University CHA scholarship
All students who complete CHA and have a 25+ ACT (or SAT equivalent) and a 3.5 GPA will receive a renewable, 4-year scholarship valued at the price of in-state tuition. More information can be found at the scholarship website.
Junior Information from Murray State University
1. Juniors can start applying for admission to Murray State as soon as they have completed their junior year of high school. That means, they can apply the very next day after the last day of school. This is not considered early admission. This is just when our application opens for them.
2. Admission Application Information:
- 2.75 GPA or higher, unweighted High School GPA, we do not require ACT or SAT for an admission decision.
- 2.0 - 2.74 GPA, we will complete a holistic review of the student.
- Admission is based on Unweighted High School GPA on a 4.0 scale.
- We do allow students to self report their GPAs at the time of admission. This means we technically do not require a transcript at the time of admission.
- Our Admission Application is only found at www.murraystate.edu/apply
3. Campus visits starting in June are not open yet on our website. We will be doing campus visits, but our student center is undergoing a complete renovation so we are still trying to coordinate where they will be held and other logistics. They can be scheduled through May currently though. I will let you all know when they are open.
