Dear Parents,
It is an exciting and busy time as both teachers and families prepare for school on Monday August17, 2026!
For the first day, you are welcome to meet us outside room 9. Students who are being dropped off early or eating breakfast will line up on the playground @ the 8:30 whistle, then walk to our room with me.
You can pick up your child outside the classroom or down @ the basketball courts @ 2:35.
Students need to bring their backpack every day and a water bottle that either unscrews or flips open. (Please don’t poke holes in the lids.) Please put their names on them, if possible.
Scissors are helpful--- especially if your child is left- handed. A glue stick and a “fat” beginner pencil are also appreciated, but not required.
I will provide crayons, a pencil box, and anything else needed in the classroom for now.
Supplies to bring to School in your Backpack:
Sharpened pencils (“fat,” beginners’ pencils preferred.)
Pencil Eraser
Scissors (one for school, one for home)
Glue sticks- optional
Optional- personal size tissue pack
I will provide a pencil box to keep at school along with a box of crayons* and a white board with eraser.
*If your child "goes through" crayons quickly, buy a few boxes on sale and store away for later.
PLEASE, Do Not bring markers, rulers, or colored pencils to school.

For completing Homework, you will need
pencils,
crayons,
scissors,
glue sticks in a / box or container.
You will also need primary- lined writing paper*, a binder or sturdy folder for sight words, and a few Ziploc- type bags. First graders will also need a binder or sturdy folder for spelling words.
Primary- lined paper has a dotted mid line for neat letter formation. Horizontal or vertical pages are available free online or available in pads @ stores.
If your child uses up crayons or pencils quickly, you may want to buy some while they are on sale and put them away for later. We are limited in the number of crayons the school will provide.
Thank you for your time. If you have any questions, please contact me. I am looking forward to seeing your children on Monday and speaking with you on Parent Night, TUESDAY, August 18, 2026 @ 5:30. It will be a minimum day. (home at 1:00)
Stay safe,
Miss Christensen
