Events Expanding Prevention In Your Community

One way to help others learn more about the Allamakee Prevention Advisory and it's mission is by attending events in your community. Become a face people recognize, a face that makes them want to join a group of individuals "focused on guiding grant funds to advocate, educate, and provide awareness to positively impact the health and wellness of Allamakee County".

(If your agency has an event coming up or you know of an event you would like the  Allamakee Prevention Advisory  to be involved in, please email )

Allamakee Health Fair at Veteran's Memorial Hospital

The Allamakee Prevention Advisory was able to attend the Allamakee Health Fair in Waukon on May 10th. Not only were we able to host a table, but we also had to opportunity to do a Hidden In Plain Sight event. During this event, individuals ages 18 and older were able to see a mock bedroom of a teenage boy. This was not just any bedroom though, this mock bedroom was filled with many different items such as vapes, booze tubes, Kratom, and many more items hidden in plain sight.  This prevention strategy gives adults the ability to recognize and become familiar with new drug trends while getting the education they need to better support their youth.
