I am originally from Helena, Montana. I moved to Missoula to pursue a degree in Elementary Education. I graduated from the University of Montana with an Elementary Education and Psychology degree. I have taught in kindergarten, second grade, and 4 years in 6th grade.
In addition to teaching, one of my passions is coaching. I am the head Girls Basketball Coach at Big Sky High School. If I am not in the classroom or gym, I am outside with my 3-year-old yellow lab named Koda and my family/friends. I am excited for the school year and to continue getting to know each student I have the opportunity to work with.
Woohoo! Our classroom gets to have a student teacher through December. If you have heard about an extra adult being in our room recently, it is most likely Ms. Smith. I am extremely excited about this addition to our room. We are so excited to have her! If you need anything, have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out.
Ms. Walsh and Ms. Smith
Hello! My name is Brynne Smith and I am a senior at Montana State University majoring in Elementary Education, but was lucky enough to be placed here in Missoula for student teaching! I actually attended Hellgate Elementary when I was younger so am thrilled to be back!
Teaching runs in my family — all four of my grandparents and my mom were teachers and/or principals. I've always been drawn to upper elementary and middle school - I love this age group's mix of independence and curiosity. 6th grade is such a pivotal time, and I want to be a source of confidence for my students, helping them to grow in a way they never have before.
Outside of school, I love baking, hiking, swimming, and running! My whole family runs, so family bonding typically consists of running half-marathons and marathons together!
I also played intramural volleyball at MSU, been a swim instructor, and led sports camps — I love being a mentor and leader both in and out of the classroom. I can't wait to get to know your students this semester!
