6th Grade Policies

Tardy Policy

Students get 2 tardies with warnings to each class. On their third tardy it results in a recess detention and contact home. Students have a 4 minute transition period to change classes. Our goal is to help get them ready to move into the middle school next year with this policy,

Grading Policy

4 3 2 1

Receiving a 4 on a standard reflects ABOVE grade level underestanding and achievements. The student has demonstrated a knowledge that is beyond the expected understanding of the standard or topic's requiremetns/scope of the assignment.

Receiving a 3 means that the student has met and demonstrated the expected knowledge of the content needed for success. When asked to complete the skill independently the studnet can reach the answer with no assistance.

Receiving a 2 means that a student is nearing the expectations/requirements for skill mastery or assignment requirements. When asked to complete the task alone that practices said skill they need assistance in order to reach the correct end point.

Receiving a 1 means the student is unable to or did not produce work that demonstrates a knowledge of hte content at hand or assignment requirements. The student is unable work independently on the content and have successful outcomes with their work.

Missing and Late Work Policies

It is your student's responsibility to talk to Ms. Walsh about absent, missing, or late work. Missing or late work can be turned into the appropriate class work bin throughout the trimester. Work can be turned in for up to 100% credit before the end of the trimester. Work will be graded and tracked by Miss Walsh.
