In our classroom, we focus on building positive behavior, strong manners, and a respectful environment. Responsibility and respect are at the heart of how we act and react in different situations.
One of my biggest goals for students is that they learn to take ownership of their behavior and choices—socially, emotionally, and academically. I use a “Love and Logic” approach to classroom management, which means I work with each student as an individual. If discipline is needed, the student and I come up with a consequence and plan together. I’ll involve parents when necessary so we can all support the student as a team.
Students are responsible for their words and actions, and they are included in conversations about how to handle challenges and consequences. My goal is to help students think for themselves, take responsibility, and learn how to navigate real-life situations—both in our classroom and beyond.
