If you're here, it might be because your child has been invited to participate in a Title I reading or math group. Or, you might just be wondering, "What is Title I?"
Title I is a federal program that provides additional funding to schools with a high percentage of students from low-income families. This funding is intended to help ensure that all children, regardless of their socioeconomic background, have access to a high-quality education and meet challenging state academic standards. Title I funds can be used to support various programs and services, such as hiring additional teachers, providing tutoring, and offering extended-day programs.Â
The goal and purpose of Title I at Hellgate is to provide students with a little extra support in reading and/or math with small group instruction so they can be more successful in their Core classes. Grade level teachers, the Title team, and Administrators work together to identify students who may benefit from Title support. Sometimes students may participate in Title for short periods of 6-8 weeks, while other students may participate for longer. It all depends on the student's particular needs!
