Goals/Objectives for 7th grade and Concert Ensembles:
Students will have a basic understanding of choral technique - posture, breath support, vowel space and placement, tuning within section

Students will be able to identify the parts of the staff and where notes are on the staff

Students will be able to sing Major Scale in the Key of Do with corresponding solfege hand signs

Students will be able to identify and read the following rhythms: eighth notes, quarter note, half note, whole note and corresponding rests

Students will be able to sight-read conjunct melodies in their "home key" - Fa for treble voices, Sol for tenor/bass voices

Students will be able to perform two pieces of quality repertoire from memory for an audience - at least one with 2 parts

Students will be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of appropriate concert performing and audience etiquette


Goals/Objectives for Varsity Ensembles:

Students will demonstrate an elevated understanding of choral technique - posture, breath support, vowel space and placement, tuning within section and across the entire ensemble

Students will be able to sightread 3 part exercises with triad skips in the Keys of Fa, Sol, and Do

Students will be able to sing Major scale, Patterns of 3rds, and a Chromatic Scale in the Key of Do with Corresponding hand signs

Students will be able to identify and read the following rhythms: sixteenth notes, eighth notes, quarter note, dotted quarter note, half note, dotted half note, whole note and corresponding rests. Students will also be able to read independent rhythmic lines simultaneously.

Students will be able to perform five pieces of quality repertoire from memory for an audience, including at least one piece in a foreign language

Students will be able to demonstrate an excellent understanding of appropriate concert performing and audience etiquette and lead the 7th grade and concert choirs by example. Students will be outstanding ambassadors for BJH and Bedford Choirs through their audience and performing etiquette.

Students will participate in multiple community performances by collaborating with other schools and performing at athletic events and Open House.
