National Geographic Regional Director, Chris Hines will conduct sessions on starting your journey to become a National Geographic Certified Educator! You will also be able to explore a variety of other professional learning opportunities provided for educators from National Geographic.
This session counts as Phase 1 of the free professional learning program known as the National Geographic Educator Certification Program. As educators go on to complete Phases 2 and 3 online and in their classrooms, they will have the opportunity to try out new lessons and activities that challenge students to solve real-world problems.
During this adventure, we will be diving into the Educator Resources (also free) through National Geographic, looking first at how certification can benefit you and your students. If you have already gone through and joined the certified educator community, maybe you are ready for your next adventure, the Geo-Inquiry Process. Perhaps you are not ready to jump into certification just yet; we have some sessions on Micro-Credentials. Or you are ready to take the next steps and explore writing grants, Explorer Classroom, and so much more.
National Geographic Educator Certification is a free professional development program that recognizes pre-K through 12 formal and informal educators committed to inspiring the next generation of explorers, conservationists, and changemakers. These educators are part of a powerful movement to make the world a better place by empowering students to be informed decision-makers equipped to solve meaningful challenges in their communities and beyond. Don’t just teach students about the world—teach them how to change it.
