ARRIVAL and DISMISSAL
Arrival Procedures:
ALL students who arrive between 7:15 am and 7:35 am, will enter through the cafeteria entrance at door O.
All students will have the option to eat breakfast and sit with their grade level. No students will be allowed in the school without a pass from a teacher.
At 7:35 am, the students will be dismissed to go to their classrooms. At this time, other doors around the campus will open (front doors at DOOR A, kindergarten/1st grade hall doors at DOOR D, and 6th grade doors at DOOR K). Students in kindergarten will be walked down to their teachers.
After the bell rings at 7:45 am, ALL (PreK-6th) students MUST enter through door A at the front of the school and will be considered tardy.
Please note: If students are on campus, they must enter the building for safety purposes. There will be no waiting outside unattended.
Dismissal Procedures:
All students who walk home MUST cross the street at the crosswalk at Ash and Donley.
Please have car tags ready for all car rider pick-ups. You will receive these the first week of school.
All older siblings will exit with their younger siblings EXCEPT PreK. If you have a PreK student you will need to pick them up and then proceed to the other pick-up spot.
Kinder and first grade students are picked up at the end of the Kinder hallway at DOOR D. At dismissal, you are ONLY allowed to turn right when entering and exiting the pick up line.
All 2nd and 3rd grade students are picked up in the front circle drive. Please pull all the way forward and the line will move much faster.
All 4th, 5th, and 6th grade students will be picked up in the parking lot off of Ash Lane close to doors M and N. Please do not park on Ash Lane or in the parking lot during dismissal.
In order to volunteer at Lakewood, ie. attend class parties, field trips, field day etc. you must have an active background check through the districts VIPS System. Please see the link below (please note, you will not need a badge appointment for the background check). CLICK HERE and follow the prompts.
School begins at 7:45 am and ends at 3:05 pm.

SAFETY CONCERN: Please pay attention to the signs on Ash Lane. There is one entrance and one exit for that parking lot. We are having some close calls with people entering the exit. Also, as you turn out of the front circle drive, you can only turn right.
Per the Student Code of Conduct, all student cell phones must be turned off and not used during the school day. If you need to reach your child, please call the main office.
For arrival and dismissal, please do not exit your vehicle. If you need to help your student with a buckle or car seat, please pull through and park. Please note the traffic patterns and how each of our drop off zones have an entrance and and exit. We also ask that you watch your speed for the safety of our staff and students. There are maps with more detail in the newsletter.
For safety reasons, our gates are locked throughout the day.
Picking up your student early- You must have an id to pick your student up.
Mondays will be SPIRIT DAYS- Please encourage your student to show some school pride by wearing their Lakewood shirt. If they don't have one, do not worry! PTA will provide one for all students in the fall.
Wednesday is always college day! We would love for your students to wear college gear! If your child might be in need of a shirt, please reach out to AlysiaHanes@hebisd.edu
Friday is FUNDRAISER FRIDAY- Our fundraisers supports our 6th grade students with their end-of-the-year activities. Students may pay $1 to wear a hat each Friday.
We must have the clinic letterhead on all sick notes.
Breakfast and lunch will not be free for everyone this year. You can apply for free or reduced prices here: www.schoollunchapp.com
If you are volunteering for a class party or other activity (field trip, etc...) younger siblings are not allowed.
Bluetooth headphones will not be allowed at school. If students are using headphones in class, they must have a wire.
Hoods from jackets or sweatshirts will not be allowed on during the school day.
Adding money to a lunch account is easy. Scan the QR code to be redirected to the website OR you can bring in cash or a check.

Lakewood Family! It’s that time of year again. Time to join PTA. We know this year will be unlike any other. As we start our year together please remember our teachers and staff are working hard to make this year successful for all our Eagles! PTA is looking forward to continuing the working partnership we have established with our community, our lovely Principal Mrs. Harris and our amazing teachers and staff.
We will continue to provide an excellent learning experience for our children with the support of our members. I encourage each and every one of you to become a part of our team! By becoming a member you have a voice and we count on you as members to help us navigate what is best for our students this year.
