š¦ Hi Lakewood Families!
Our students showed great perseverance and focus during last Tuesdayās ELAR STAAR, and we are incredibly proud of their effort. As we continue through this busy season, our 5th grade students will take the Science STAAR this Tuesday. The final weeks of school are filled with important events and activities, so please be sure to mark your calendars and stay connected for updates.Ā
š Celebrating Our Teachers: May 4-8Ā
Teacher Appreciation Week is coming up May 4ā8, and we would love your help in making it a special time for our incredible staff. We have created an Amazon wishlist with items that will allow us to provide treats and thoughtful surprises throughout the week. If you would like to contribute, you can use the link or QR code in the flyer below to view the list. If you happen to find an item at a lower cost elsewhere, you are welcome to purchase it and drop it off in the front office. Thank you for helping us celebrate and support our amazing teachers! š£Ā School-Wide Fundraiser
Our upcoming school-wide fundraiser is just around the corner, and we are excited for students to have the opportunity to earn fun prizes and participate in special activities while supporting our campus. Funds raised will directly support student initiatives, learning experiences, campus events, and opportunities that help make Lakewood the special place it is. We know our community is one of our greatest strengths, and we hope you will join us in supporting this effort so we can continue to provide meaningful traditions, engaging learning, and memorable experiences for our students each year. Flyers with more information will be sent home early next week, and the fundraiser will run from Wednesday, April 22 through May 6. The flyer is also attached below so you can begin reviewing it with your student and setting goals for the prizes they hope to earn.Ā
š« STAAR Test RemindersĀ
As we continue with STAAR testing, we want to share a few important reminders. 5th grade students will take the Science STAAR on April 21, and students in grades 3ā6 will take the Math STAAR on April 28. These will be closed campus days with no lunch visitors. To help ensure a smooth testing environment, please make sure your child is present, arrives on time, avoids scheduling appointments, and comes well-rested and ready to do their best. Students may bring a small snack, and there will be no early dismissal for students in STAAR grade levels. Thank you for your continued support during this important time.Ā
šāāļø Field Days Are Coming! Ā
Field Days are just around the corner, and we are looking forward to this fun and active time for our students! Please be on the lookout for permission slips coming home soon from your childās teacher, as these will include important details about participation and event information. We appreciate your help in returning these forms promptly so all students can be part of the festivities.Ā

REMINDERS:
ARRIVAL DROP OFF: Parents, for safety reasons, we ask that you only drop off your student in the designated drive through area where staff are available to help open car doors each morning- not parking spots, handicapped spots, or across the street. We understand everyone is on a schedule, but our first priority is safety!
TRAFFIC FLOW AT DISMISSAL: Please be aware that beginning Monday, Euless PD will be on site and may issue tickets to families who are not following the traffic flow pattern in the front circle drive and the Kindergarten/1st grade dismissal area. We know dismissal can feel congested, but the process moves much fasterāand stays saferāwhen everyone follows the traffic flow expectations.Ā
EARLY DISMISSAL: Front office will not process early dismissals after 2:45 p.m. If you need to pick up your child early, please arrive before 2:45 p.m. This helps ensure a smooth dismissal for all students at 3:05 p.m.
STAY CONNECTED: Donāt forget to check our school website regularly for the latest updates, upcoming events, and important announcements. Itās the best way to stay in the loop and make sure you donāt miss out on all the great things happening at Lakewood Elementary!Ā
Additional Information will be Communicated Throughout the School Year
The 89th Session of the Texas Legislature enacted new laws pertaining to schools and could pass more during Special Sessions. When new laws are passed, school districts typically have to wait for additional information to be released by the Texas Education Agency about how to implement the new laws. As this new TEA guidance is released, we will communicate with HEB ISD families if there are significant changes to any processes impacting students.
