On Tuesday, our fifth-grade students will take their Science DBA. This assessment will only involve Grade 5, and campus operationsâincluding specialsâwill continue as normal. If you have a fifth grader, please help them prepare by ensuring they are well rested, have a healthy breakfast, and arrive ready to do their bestâwe are proud of their hard work and know they will shine!Â
đ March Madness
Our March Madness Reading Challenge is in full swing! Students can read all month long for a chance to win fun weekly prizes, including extra recess, slime, fidget spinners, and even a movie and popcorn party. New winners will be announced each weekâlet the reading begin!Â
đ¸ Spring Book Fair
Our Spring Book Fair continues into next week! Mrs. Garcia, our fabulous librarian, will keep the fair open late on Tuesday, March 10th, from 5:00â6:30 PM for families who would like to shop after school. We hope youâll stop by and support our library!Â
đŠ Mustache Madness is Coming!Â
Get ready for a little Mustache Madness! For just $1, students can purchase a mustache and join the fun on March 13âall while supporting our 6th grade field trip.Â
đ Shout-Out to Our Students and Families
Last week was a busy one at Lakewood! From Pastries with Parents and Read Across America dress-up days to the Math DBA, TELPAS testing, Suzuki Achievement Day, and our PTA Book Swapâour students stayed engaged and gave their very best. We are so proud of their effort and the support from our families.
As we head into Spring Break, weâre looking forward to a slightly slower pace this week. Letâs make it a great one filled with learning, positive choices, and meaningful moments together!

REMINDERS:
ARRIVAL DROP OFF: Parents, for safety reasons, we ask that you only drop off your student in the designated drive through area where staff are available to help open car doors each morning- not parking spots, handicapped spots, or across the street. We understand everyone is on a schedule, but our first priority is safety!
TRAFFIC FLOW AT DISMISSAL: Please be aware that beginning Monday, Euless PD will be on site and may issue tickets to families who are not following the traffic flow pattern in the front circle drive and the Kindergarten/1st grade dismissal area. We know dismissal can feel congested, but the process moves much fasterâand stays saferâwhen everyone follows the traffic flow expectations.Â
EARLY DISMISSAL: Front office will not process early dismissals after 2:45 p.m. If you need to pick up your child early, please arrive before 2:45 p.m. This helps ensure a smooth dismissal for all students at 3:05 p.m.
STAY CONNECTED: Donât forget to check our school website regularly for the latest updates, upcoming events, and important announcements. Itâs the best way to stay in the loop and make sure you donât miss out on all the great things happening at Lakewood Elementary!Â
Additional Information will be Communicated Throughout the School Year
The 89th Session of the Texas Legislature enacted new laws pertaining to schools and could pass more during Special Sessions. When new laws are passed, school districts typically have to wait for additional information to be released by the Texas Education Agency about how to implement the new laws. As this new TEA guidance is released, we will communicate with HEB ISD families if there are significant changes to any processes impacting students.
