Export to a XLSX list for the emergency GO kits by class.
Teachers doing it:
Menu >> Student >> student list
To sort it by class period, add a column for Shared Classes, then export and sort by that column.
Use the gears to insert columns of information. Gear in column header >> + insert column >> find the info you want (Shared Classes) >> click it to add.
It will refresh and update. It will remember this view next time you come to this screen.
When you get the view how you like click on "more" and export XLSX
Sort the Excel spreadsheet that downloads by the “Shared Classes” column
For an administrator doing it for teachers:
Student List > Add column > student > primary student family >primary student guardian > name > add. Then do the same for email, then secondary student guardian, email.
To sort it by class period, add a column for Shared Classes, then export and sort by that column.
For teachers who cannot create Class Groups but need a single, printable list of all students across multiple sections—for example, a PE teacher with 8 sections—this is a quick way to create a spreadsheet without having to do much editing in Excel.
Go to:
Menu → Attendance → Daily Attendance
Click into the class you want to use.
Starting at the bottom of the student list, click and drag to highlight all students and the information displayed with them, continuing all the way to the top.
Copy the highlighted information.
Open a new Google Sheet.
Click into cell A1.
Paste.
This creates an easy-to-edit, printable class list that matches the attendance list exactly, including all of the students and information displayed there.
This document will help you with instructions on getting parent and/or student emails out of Skyward in a usable format for our HEB email.
First you might want to make sure all guardians are in your Skyward Student List view. Instructions for that are here:
Adding a second guardian’s name and/or email to the student list
From a teacher account:
Add the second guardian’s email address
Menu >> student >> student list >> click a gear at the header of your choice to insert a column >> insert column >> double click student folder >> double click primary student family >> double click secondary family guardian folder >> double primary email >> double click email address.
Add the second guardian’s name
Menu >> student >> student list >> click a gear at the header of your choice to insert a column >> insert column >> double click student folder >> double click primary student family >> double click secondary family guardian folder >> double primary email >> double click name.
Notes
If email or name isn’t an option when you get to the last step, that means you’ve already added it as a column.
You can edit the column header name by clicking on the gear in the new column, under DISPLAY DETAILS, rename it to something like “Second parent name” or “Second parent email”
Click “more” in the top right corner and then export XLSX to get a manipulatable version.
For an administrator:
Student List > Add column > student > primary student family >primary student guardian > name > add. Then do the same for email, then secondary student guardian, email.
To sort it by class period, add a column for Shared Classes, then export and sort by that column.
Score (Unweighted)
The actual/raw points the student earned
Student earns 18/20 → displays 18
Score (Weighted)
The points earned after the assignment's Weight is applied
Student earns 18/20 on an assignment weighted 2.0 → displays 36 weighted points
Percent
Converts points earned into a percentage
18/20 → displays 90%
Grade Mark
Displays the grade mark associated with the percentage
90% → could display A, based on the district's grade marks
Go to Menu → Gradebook → Gradesheet.
Open the class containing the assignment.
Click the title of the assignment you want to delete.
Select Assignment Details.
Recommended: Edit the Assignment Name and add “- DELETED” to the end.
This frees up the original assignment name in case you want to use it again with the same due date.
Click Delete Assignment.
Confirm the deletion.
If you didn’t see Delete Assignment as an option, do this:
Menu >> Gradebook >> Assignments >> Click into the class where the assignment is located >> Find it on the list >> Click the down arrow 🔻to the left of the assignment title >> Delete assignment. Repeat for other classes as needed.
That's it! Once you confirm Delete, the assignment will be removed from that class's Gradesheet and will no longer be included in the students' averages.
When you delete an assignment that was synced/copied to other classes, Skyward allows you to decide where it should be deleted.
On the deletion screen:
Look for the additional classes where the assignment was synced.
Check the box for each additional class where you want the assignment deleted.
Leave a class unchecked if you want the assignment to remain in that class.
Confirm Delete.
So you do not have to go into every class individually to delete a synced assignment.
Deleting an assignment does not permanently wipe out the scores that were entered. Skyward retains those scores in case you restore the assignment later.
If you accidentally delete one, you can restore it through:
Menu → Gradebook → Assignments → find the deleted assignment → drop-down arrow → Restore Deleted Assignment
Also, assignments can only be deleted from current or future grading periods. You cannot delete an assignment from a past grading period.
WATCH THIS: You made an assignment and hit SAVE, but don't see it in your Gradesheet? No problem. This short 43-second video shows you how to see them.
Can't find the assignments you created? Look under PR1 (or whatever current grade bucket we are in)!
Find the double-arrow >> symbol under PR1 and click it to expand the grading period.
Your assignments may simply be collapsed/hidden underneath that grade bucket.
