Architectural Design I
This course is taken at the Buinger CTE Academy over one class block. It is designed to give the students architecture and drafting knowledge with a focus on residential design, construction, and real world application. Students will be introduced to many facets of drafting and design on the Autodesk program, Revit. Upon completion of this class, students will have gained skills in architectural sketching and drafting, 2D plans and 3D modeling, knowledge in construction materials, and information on the scheduling process. Students will also become proficient in saving electronic documents in multiple file formats on their individual student directories. This course runs two trimesters, upon completion of the two trimesters, students will receive 1 full credit. Students must be approved by the instructor in order to advance to Architectural Design II the following year.
Architectural Design II:
This course is an extension of Architectural Design I and it will take place over two block periods at Buinger CTE Academy. This class will build on all the skills learned in the previous course and take them to a greater depth. Students will gain knowledge and introductory skills for career in architecture as well as prepare a foundation toward a post-secondary degree in architecture, construction science, and/or drafting. This course includes knowledge of the design, design history, techniques, and tools related to the production of drawings, renderings, and scaled models for nonresidential and residential architectural purposes. Students will also learn professional standards and employability skills that will be put into practice throughout the trimesters in their design projects and presentations as well as class participation and interactions.
Architectural Design I students get their first taste of modeling with this assignment. Students are required to create a model of a house using only small popsicle sticks, Elmer's glue, and a cardboard base. They are given limitations on their design like height, length, width, and level requirements.
Architectural Design II students were required to create a model of a house using only Toothpicks, Elmer's glue, and a cardboard base.
