Stipends and Credits

We have two engaging online weeks planned: Session I: June 21-25 and Session II: July 19-23, 2021. Participants will learn the history of the Heart Mountain Wyoming incarceration site, culminating with the annual Heart Mountain pilgrimage, which usually brings hundreds of former incarcerees, family members, and friends to the site; however, this year, because of the pandemic it will be a virtual event. The workshops end on Friday afternoon. Participants are welcome and encouraged to explore the websites of the other sites of interest in the area to get a full picture of the history, geography and culture of the region. We also strongly encourage participants to come to the actual site when it is safe again.

Stipend, Tenure, and Conditions of Award

Teachers selected to participate in the Heart Mountain, Wyoming and the Japanese American Incarceration will receive a $1,300 stipend at the end of the workshop session. Workshop participants are required to attend all scheduled meetings and to engage fully as professionals in all project activities. Participants who do not complete the full tenure of the project will receive a reduced stipend. Stipends will be distributed after check-out and the last session on the last day of the workshop. Stipends are taxable.
