Courses


A series of 7 courses available for 2-3 license renewal or graduate credits each, resulting in College Access certification for school counselors and other professionals working in the college access field.

This course is designed to build capacity of individuals to be able to facilitate the use of data-driven decision making tools that are available to Iowa Schools within an MTSS Framework. Participants will learn how to maximize their use of several available data sets including: 1) Panorama- Including Conditions of Learning, 2) FastBridge, 3) Iowa School Performance Profile, and 4) Post Secondary.

In this hybrid course, we will explore the best practices of postsecondary transition for students with disabilities (ages 13+) and plan, develop, and implement these practices utilizing the Heartland Future Ready Transition Action Plan along with other resources and tools provided. (2 hours of Zoom meetings and the remainder is asynchronous).

Participants in this course will have the opportunity to:

  • Review and analyze the postsecondary outcome data for students with disabilities and discuss how this data impacts our daily work.

  • Unpack the best practices of transition including Iowa’s Model of Transition Assessment, postsecondary expectations for living, learning and working, and how to prepare students for the next setting.

  • Identify connections to ACHIEVE and commitments for next steps.
