Hi, I'm Leisa the founder & creator behind Healing India Creative Arts. My small Perth, Australia-based biz offers a range of handcrafted, bespoke jewelry pieces and decorative or functional home décor and giftwares inspired by a blend of my Portuguese and Indian multicultural heritage and Bohemian influences. I enjoy the challenge of applying sustainable principles across my work and thrive on reducing my eco-footprint by sourcing recycled materials, combining these with new & re-purposed materials to create beautiful textiles, glass, jewelry, home & giftwares.

If you love supporting and buying from a local small business and are seeking handmade artisan unique one-of-a-kind designs that have been made with lots of love and care, plus made with sustainable principles in mind, check out my etsy "GIFT STORE" etsy gift store

EVENTS & WORKSHOPS

I love creating, and I also love sharing creativity by offering a range of multi-disciplinary creative art workshops and classes in person in our community, and also to reach other communities by offering online events via ZOOM. The creative workshops offered are ever-evolving based on the materials that I come across & explore the theme of "turning lost materials into found designs".

Workshop dates, times & all details are available by downloading my current program on the "CREATIVE ART WORKSHOPS" page or by following my Facebook Page https://www.facebook.com/HealingIndia/

Each workshop is a wonderfully creative shared learning experience for all; throughout workshops, we share & learn new repurposing techniques from each other & see our individual creations evolve, celebrating that we are each unique creative artists at heart.

Nature play, sustainable materials, and my multicultural Portuguese & Indian-inspired creative workshops for festivals & events are offered by request.

MY CREATIVE & EDUCATIONAL JOURNEY As far back as I can recall, I have been creating by imagining what things can become, turning lost into something new, foraging & using whatever comes my way to create... always having joy for remaking & working alongside people.

In 2000 I studied a Bachelor of Social Sciences & began working in the Youth & Community Services sector in Perth, WA, developing & facilitating creative & educational workshops & programs focusing on self-care, creativity, life skills & community. In 2006, I commenced learning the glass fusing, slumping, kiln-fired art-form under the wing of an artist & I am constantly continuing to learn, develop & explore contemporary & traditional forms of creative arts, including attending Dressmaking, Fashion Sustainability, & Mixed media workshops.

I continue to combine my work across the private & community-based sectors in Perth, developing & facilitating educational life skills & creative workshops & programs with an emphasis on social responsibility & "slowing down fast fashion by re-purposing clothing & fashion designers' textile & fibre otherwise waste and remnants".

I have been blessed to be part of my Local Community Arts Exhibitions over 3 years; in 2014 I was awarded The Cockburn Community & Cultural Council Inc. 2014 Public Vote Award and a Merit Certificate for my Glass entry; In 2015 I was awarded a First Prize Award for my glass jewelry entry In 2021 I was awarded 4 Merit Certificates for my basketry and Fused glass Jewellery entries.

MY GLASS WORK DESIGNS Using the fusing, slumping, and kiln-fired warm glass art form, I'm inspired by being able to reform & recreate fractured, scrap & cut glass into functional jewelry & into small to medium functional & decorative pieces, including bowls, clocks, incense holders, coasters, platters, home & giftwares.
