Introducing Kali Connection Therapy
Hosted by: MTSU Professional Counseling Program
Have you heard about Polyvagal, Interpersonal Neurobiology, and Attachment, but aren't sure what they are or how to use them in case conceptualization with clients?
OR:
Are you feeling "stuck" with a client and unsure how to get "unstuck?"
AND:
Are you ready to feel better while helping your clients get better?
Shannon Black, LCP-MHSP-S and Mara Giovanni (MSW, Advanced Martial Arts Instructor) have developed a model to help you conceptualize your cases, build coregulation with clients, treat developmental and single episode trauma, AND add an innovative regulatory play element to your treatment menu.
Objectives include:
Exploring how to think about your clients and their issues from a "bottom-up" approach
Learning the mechanisms by which bilateral stimulation and vibration regulate the nervous system
Acquiring ways to discern with your client where their nervous system is on the polyvagal ladder and gaining tools to help manage their autonomic nervous system
Practicing a bilateral stimulation technique that accesses the primary regulation area of the brain to help your client feel safe and connected (ventral vagal is where the party starts)!
You'll go home with these 4 tools:
A Case Conceptualization Tool
Regulation Techniques to bring into Session
Casual Attachment Assessment Tools
A New Resource for Non-Verbal Cues
MSW, Martial Arts Instructor (3rd Dan)
LPC-MHSP-S
This model is now being used at Onsite Workshops and Integrative Life Center.
It is cutting-edge and utterly unique.
One participant recently wrote, "I found joy in my body for the first time in my adult life." <3
Clients love this connective tool. The model is grounded in the work of (to name a few):
Bessel van der Kolk, Dan Siegel, Dan Brown, Stephen Porges, Bruce Perry, and Peter Levine.
Miller Education Center
503 E. Bell Street, Murfreesboro, TN 37130
Attendees can park in the Jackson Street Lot to the north or in the Highland Lot across the street. Students, faculty, and staff can also catch MTSU's Raider Xpress shuttle to and from the main campus via the "Silver Route."
Let us know if you'll be attending!
We are very excited to roll out this new model to
therapists and aspiring therapists and hope to see you there.
