SHSM Application for 26/27 are now open!
In addition to promoting the technology programs offered in our school, these challenges allow the competing students to apply their knowledge of math, science and technology in a fun way, while providing them the opportunity to make the connection between what they are learning in school and possible careers in skilled trades and technologies. When competing students return from the competition, their enthusiasm for the trades and technologies is contagious.

Winners of Halton Skills may have the opportunity to compete at the Provincial Level!
The Skills Ontario Competition offers a unique opportunity for top students to demonstrate that they are the best in their field. Over three days, student competitors impress their educators, family, friends, and prospective employers. Winners are awarded with Gold, Silver, or Bronze medals and the opportunity to compete at the Skills Canada National Competition. From there, competitors could be headed to the WorldSkills Competition. Some medalists receive monetary awards as well.
The Skills Canada National Competition is an ideal way for tomorrow’s workforce to discover new and exciting careers. The Skills Canada National Competition is the only national, multi-trade and technology competition for students and apprentices in the country. Each year, more than 550 competitors from all regions of Canada come to SCNC to participate in over 40 skilled trade and technology competitions.
Previous Skills Canada competitions have taken place in Vancouver, Edmonton, Halifax, Toronto, Quebec City, and many other locations across the country.
The 47th WorldSkills Competition toom place in Lyon, France, 10-15 September 2024, following the postponement of the 46th WorldSkills Competition in Shanghai, China by one year due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Past World Skills Competitions have been held in Kazan, Russia (2019), Abu Dhabi, Dubai (2017), Sao Palo, Brazil (2015)
