I'm not the alpaca
My adventure to becoming a teacher is a long winding one, and one that I love to share with my students.
Prior to teaching I was a Red Seal Machinist, operating a variety of equipment including lathes, milling machines, vertical and horizontal boring mills, often holding tolerances down to +/- .0004". My interest in machining started in high school, thanks to some wonderful technology teachers I had. I hope to be able to help make memorable moments, and inspire my students to explore all the amazing opportunities tech has to offer. I obtained my Bachelor of Education from Brock University, becoming qualified in intermediate and senior Manufacturing, and have since gone on to earn several additional qualifications.
I know that students can demonstrate their learning in a variety of ways, and I always look for opportunities to get away from "traditional" methods of assessment and evaluation, favouring observational and conversational evidence as students engage in project based learning.Â
Outside of class, my wife and I have two wonderful sons, Felix, and Oscar. Both of my sons are special needs (and drastically different!) My experience raising my sons has definitely changed my perspective on learning styles, needs, and the importance of differentiating assessment, evaluation, and instruction in my teaching practice.
