Take Action!
Newton’s first law of motion teaches us that “An object at rest stays at rest and an object in motion stays in motion with the same speed and in the same direction unless it is acted upon by an unbalanced force.”
Now imagine climate change as this giant boulder that we need to push up a steep cliff. It’s not going to budge with only a few hands on it. But what is so wonderful and hopeful is that there are already millions of hands on this boulder pushing it up that cliff. The boulder is in motion but it’s just not moving fast enough. It needs more force. It needs more hands. It needs you!
It is going to take collective action! There are so many amazing people, organizations, and movements happening right here in Halton that you can get involved with! Scroll down and see how you can join the movement and take action!
Did you know that Halton students are already leading the way? The HDSB’s Student Senate expressed grave concern about the climate crisis and their interest in supporting a climate emergency declaration to safeguard the environment while inspiring action to address these threats. We are proud to say that the HDSB is the first school board in Canada to declare a climate emergency. Recognizing the challenges climate change brings to the HDSB, the declaration aims to inspire students, families and staff to take collective action in combating climate change within their communities. You can read more about it HERE.
