My name is Samantha Hammel and I am looking forward to being your child's grade one teacher. I am very excited to begin a new school year and I hope that your child will experience our classroom as one in which they feel safe to learn, ask questions and make mistakes, all while having fun!
I do appreciate that all children learn differently and I will do my best to ensure that we have a balance of learning that happens both inside and outside of the classroom. I value the opportunity to allow children to both see and hear about topics new to them but also believe in the importance of allowing them to put their hands in things to further their understanding by "doing" such as the use of math manipulatives, science experiments and opportunities for emergent inquiry.
I will communicate any reminders and /or updates regarding our classroom or school via email on a regular basis. Please make sure that I have a current email address for you to ensure you do not miss any important information. I also use a platform called Google Classroom that allows me to post home supports for work we are covering in the classroom. Coverage teachers for our class may use this platform as well.
