All year we work on using the A.P.E. response model to effectively answer questions...
The A.P.E. Response Model
When answering Q's, use the APE model to get a level 4!!
Example: Why was Lisa upset at the end of "Echoing Howls"?
A - Answer the Question using words from the actual question
Lisa was upset because she lost track of her brother Eric and that was the only job her father gave her.
P - Prove your answer using evidence from the text (or quotes)
In the text it said Lisa started to “panic” when she lost sight of Eric.
E- Extend your answer using text-to-text/self/world connections (e.g. This story reminds me of......)
This reminds me of when I got lost at the grocery store, I felt the same panic. My parents probably felt like Lisa did in the story.
**Use a highlighter when answering Q’s to make sure you’ve included the necessary components of the A.P.E. model
