Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: When will I learn the names of my child's educators?
A: On the Friday before the Labour Day weekend, you will receive an email via School Messenger that will name your child's educators. As this is being sent to the email address that was used when registering, please inform the school office if this information changes. Also, keep an eye on your Junk email folder since it could go there! If you do not receive this email, we will assist you on the first day of school.
Q: When will my child start school?
A: The HDSB calendar was just recently approved by the Ministry and can be found on the HDSB website. We will begin school on Wednesday, September 6, 2023.
Q: What if my child is not toilet-trained?
A: Please keep working on this skill! We are able to coach them from outside the washroom door, but the more independence they have, the better! Accidents of all sorts can happen, so please provide an extra set of clothing to keep at school.
Q: What is the best backpack to buy?
A: Please make sure it is big enough to hold their lunch bag and a large Library book.
Q: What should my child's lunch consist of?
A: Our school follows a Balanced Day. We will sit to eat two times in the day. Please pack enough healthy snacks for both breaks. Using reusable containers is preferred. We can assist with lunches but practicing use of the bag and containers is also suggested. Please include a reusable leak proof water bottle daily!
Q: Should I label their items?
A: Yes please! Clothing, containers, bags, lids, etc! They're more likely to be returned if you label them!
Q: Does my child need school supplies?
A: We will supply all materials for them while at school, such as crayons, scissors, etc. You are welcome to purchase those items to have at home for them to use! Scissor practice is important!
