Agenda:
Bruce Trail is not providing a paper agenda this year. The best way to receive communication from your child or myself is to follow our class on Twitter (@DiGiacomo_BT) and to be mindful that notes from the classroom and school will be sent home regularly regarding important events.
Homework:
Family time is of utmost importance both for my students and for my own family. I feel that evenings should be spent enjoying and learning together as a family. Homework in Class 4-2 that is suggested will consist of:
- 20 minutes of reading daily (read together as a family!). Feel free to use the tic tac toe boards handed out at interviews to allow your child to respond to what they are reading. Why read every night? Check this out!

- Students are encouraged to participate in the Dreambox program a minimum of 40 minutes at home per week (we also do 40 minutes at school per week). You can access this through our Google Classroom.
- We will start Typing Club in our classroom soon! Once this program launches, please encourage your child to practice typing weekly to increase their speed and accuracy when word processing. You can access this through our Google Classroom.
- Our class enthusiastically participates in a weekly Inquiry Project that is chosen and voted on by the Grade 4 students. Families are encouraged to conduct research and bring back information regarding the particular topic in any way they see fit (e.g., pictures on their Google Drive, Slide Show, paragraph, poster board). Students are encouraged to select at lease one per month and most weeks the presentations are due by Friday.
- Incomplete work in class may be sent home for completion (after ample class time is given)
- Occasional project sent home for families to do together (e.g., All About Me)
- Students are encouraged to bring their Math duo tangs and Math Journals home on a regular basis. The reason for this is for students to communicate with their families what they have been working on in class. Most math sessions consist of an individual question in Math Journals (where students are encouraged to take risks!), a group or partner open ended problem solving activity (related to the individual question) and individual practice to consolidate what we have learned in their Math duo tangs. Students may have some unfinished independent work questions which are encouraged to be completed at home.
- Check out the RESOURCES section of this website to explore some interactive websites to support our curriculum!
Please Note: If students are unable to complete homework at any time (due to family commitments, extra-curricular activities, etc.), simply send a quick note in your child's agenda and we (your child and I) will arrange time in the classroom (or extend time given at home) to catch up.
