Polytech offers three specialty Health & Medical Sciences programs: Allied Health, Healthcare Science | Exercise Science & Sports Medicine, and Healthcare Science | Pre-Nursing.

This two-year program prepares individuals to work immediately and directly in the healthcare field or gain experience as they progress through healthcare education and specialty tracts. Through a variety of learning experiences and applications, students will learn the foundational knowledge and the basic science of medical assisting. This includes background knowledge in health care systems and settings, medical terminology, basic pharmacology, nutrition, and psychology. Additionally, anatomy and physiology concepts will be taught including body structures and organ systems, pathophysiology, disease processes, and microbiology. Through interactive learning and direct skills application, students will gain competency in clinical patient care, including general patient care, infection control procedures, testing and laboratory protocols. Throughout the duration of the program, students will be eligible to learn about and obtain certification in essential medical assisting skills, including electrocardiogram (ECG), phlebotomy, first aid, and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) & automatic external.
The Healthcare Science program of study is designed to teach students about careers that promote health, wellness, diagnosis, and treatment of injuries and diseases. In this first-year course, students will gain an understanding of the broad range of careers in the healthcare field that spans from working directly with patients to researching diseases and managing and collecting medical data for the use of public health. This course is a prerequisite for the Exercise Science & Sports Medicine and Pre-Nursing pathways which are taken in the senior year. Students who choose Pre-Nursing as their returning senior year pathway will learn and practice nursing techniques in a clinical lab using medical equipment, devices and a human patient simulator. As part of the curriculum, students will earn the American Heart Association Basic Life Support certification and First Aid certification for healthcare providers, along with the OSHA 10 Healthcare certification. Students are required to be dually enrolled at Raritan Valley Community College (RVCC) to be eligible to earn college credits from RVCC and the Rutgers School of Health Professions (SHP).

The treatment and prevention of injuries related to sports and exercise will also be studied.
