7th Grade Art

7th Grade Art - Introduction to visual thinking: This year we will explore the elements of design to help students develop both basic & advanced art skills in; drawing, painting and sculpting. We will design artwork using a variety of media and techniques recognize and use the art elements (line, shape, color, value, form, texture and space), and design principles (rhythm, balance, proportion, variety, emphasis, harmony and unity). Projects are designed with choice in order for students to develop as artists. Additionally students will develop skills to evaluate, analyze and interpret their work and others. We will also integrate the humanities curriculum into our exploration of art through history and connecting culture and ideas. Ultimately I would like for them to be creative, explore, further develop skills, through building and reflecting, learning about both themselves and the cultures they are studying. Enable students to build upon past experience with art.
