Our fourth grade classroom is guided by our student-teacher contract established at the beginning of the year. Students are a part of the decision-making process, and are expected to make choices based on three principles:
In this classroom, students will take ownership and responsibility and will bear the logical consequences of their actions. For example, if a student struggles to follow the classroom student-teacher contract, they may be asked to "take a break" and rejoin the class when they are ready.Â
We begin each day with a Morning Meeting with the purpose to review our daily objectives, and create a safe space for our class to be supportive and kind to one another. During this time, we participate in a variety of activities that may include a greeting, sharing, group activity, and/or morning message.
More information can be found at www.responsiveclassroom.org.
All classrooms are designed as "NUT FREE". Always check the label because we do have students who are highly allergic to nuts. We do encourage students to bring a healthy snack and a water bottle to school daily. We know how difficult it is to concentrate on an empty stomach.
We love to celebrate your child's birthday so each birthday child will have 15 minutes of any activity of their choice. In order to keep our classroom an inclusive environment, we kindly ask that birthday invitations not be passed out at school unless the whole class is invited.
