Welcome to Math CC6! This math class will focus on the Common Core 6th Grade Standards.

"In Grade 6, instructional time should focus on four critical areas: (1) connecting ratio and rate to whole number multiplication and division and using concepts of ratio and rate to solve problems; (2) completing understanding of division of fractions and extending the notion of number to the system of rational numbers, which includes negative numbers; (3) writing, interpreting, and using expressions and equations; and (4) developing understanding of statistical thinking. "

Big Ideas Math - Couse 1

Crocker has adopted the Big Ideas Math series as our primary curriculum. The Big Ideas Math program addresses all of the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade standards as outlined by the Common State Core Standards. The Regular Pathway provides 8th grade students with a study of Linear Equations and Functions, preparing them for a full Algebra 1 course in 9th grade.

Placement

All students will be assessed and placed at the end of each school year. This will allow all students to be most appropriately placed each year. A student currently placed in the regular pathway can test into the accelerated pathway at the end of 6th Grade or 7th Grade. More information about placement will be given toward the end of the school year. If you have questions or concerns feel free to contact me: mblake@hcsdk8.org
