7th Annual Battle of the Books
Battle of the Books is a competition between teams of students that have read the same five titles. Questions are designed to determine who can remember the most details from the five books. Teams can consist of 3-5 students. Our kickoff was on January 25, 2024, when we revealed the 5 titles. Teams compete in two rounds of questions in April. The top team will advance to the final battle at Connor MS in Grand Island against other 11 schools on May 2, 2024.

Hamburg Middle School hosted the Multi-District Battle of the Books on May 5, 2022! A total of twelve schools participated, and because we won in 2021, the final battle took place at HMS. The top middle school teams from Akron, Alden, Frontier, Grand Island, Iroquois, Lakeshore, Orchard Park, Pioneer, West Seneca West and Williamsville (Mill MS and Casey MS) joined us to compete for the trophy! While the West Seneca and Williamsville teams participated virtually, the other eight schools traveled to HMS. Forty-five difficult questions resulted in a two-way tie between Akron MS and Casey MS. (Our Hamburg team was in 2nd place with only ONE point away from the winners!) A tie-breaker determined the winner - Congratulations to Casey Middle School of Williamsville! Great job from our HMS team ~ Kennedy Calvert, Charlie Dzubella, Tessa Reinagel and Soleil Marcinelli, otherwise known as Musical Mayhem!
