Music classes in HCSD are offered to all students in Kindergarten through 8th grade!
Elementary students receive music instruction for 60-90 minutes per week.

Diana Gremett holds both Bachelor of Music and Master of Music Degrees in Operatic Vocal Performance from the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. She received her Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music from Notre Dame de Namur University and is a Level 1 Orff Certified Music Educator. Mrs. Gremett has taught private voice and piano, conducted a children's choir and adult choir, performed at Davies Symphony Hall, with the Monterey Symphony, Lyric Opera, Pocket Opera, and across the United States.
Mrs. Gremett has taught in HCSD for over twenty years and is passionate about sharing her joy of music with students.
North Elementary
Brenna Kent holds a Bachelor of Music degree in Music Education and a Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance and Pedagogy from The Nazareth School of Music in Rochester, New York. She received her teaching credential in NY, and now additionally holds a Single Subject Teaching Credential in Music from California. She Previously taught vocal and general music in Upstate New York before moving to California in 2021. She has performed in many choirs, show choirs, symphonic bands, and has also been seen performing with the Finger Lakes Opera Company. She has performed in and/or directed in over 20 youth theatre productions with a wide range of ages.
Mrs. Kent has taught in HCSD for four years and loves to share the joy and connection that music can bring to our lives. She hopes that the musical experiences here in HCSD will foster a life-long relationship with music for our students.
Crocker Music; 5th Grade Music
Mr. Lu (he/him) is a musician and educator from Palo Alto, California. He earned his B.M. in Music Education from the University of the Pacific with highest honors and recently completed his M.M. in Music Education at the University of Michigan, where his research focused on creative music-making practices in middle school band and choir classrooms.
From 2019 to 2024, Mr. Lu taught band, choir, and strings at Thomas S. Hart Middle School in Pleasanton, CA. Under his leadership, the school's ensembles received “superior” ratings at CMEA festivals, participated in trips to Disneyland, Universal Studios, and New Orleans, and collaborated with renowned musicians such as Nobuko Miyamoto and Bobby McFerrin. In 2024, the Hart Advanced Choir was featured by the CA Choral Directors Association as a guest performer at the CA All-State Music Educators Conference.
Outside of the classroom Mr. Lu maintains a busy schedule as a composer/arranger/engraver, flutist, and vocalist. He sings with the Peninsula Cantare, and has also sung in choirs supporting Sarah Brightman and the FINAL FANTASY VII Rebirth Orchestra World Tour. In his spare time, he likes to spend time with his Tortie cat Shoyu and completing woodworking projects in his garage.
