Remote Learning Hub

In the event that school systems close, it is critical that students continue to learn while at home. Remote Learning occurs when the learner and instructor, or source of information, are separated by time and distance and therefore cannot meet in a traditional classroom setting. Information is typically transmitted via technology so that no physical presence in the classroom is required. Remote Learning can occur synchronously or asynchronously and is often also referred to as Distance Education or Virtual Instruction.

When unexpected circumstances affect the school district resulting in quarantine, school closures, students will be able to access assignments via digital devices or other specially-prepared learning materials through Canvas, the districts Learning Management System for 2-12 grade students, and Seesaw, the district's LMS for PreK-1 grade students.

Technology provided by the school system will enhance teachers' abilities to communicate with students, provide direct instruction, and provide a means of instructional continuity. On Remote Learning Days, students and teachers do not report to school, but will complete classroom activities at home. The skills covered in remote lessons will be based upon the students’ learning standards and reflect work that would take place in the traditional learning setting. If the Remote Learning Plan is activated, it will be announced in conjunction with the district’s school closures. Schools and teachers will work with all students regardless of technology and information access at home, to ensure that they have access to learning resources and materials.
