Mercury is the smallest planet in the solar system an is not much larger than the moon. It has an elliptical orbit and a slow rotation. It goes around the sun in 80 earth days. Mercury travels at 29 miles per second. For the sun to rise and set it takes 176 earth days.
Even though it is so close to the sun there is still ice in mercury in shadowed craters. Organics have also been found on the surface which are key to the existence of life. Organics are items related to or that come from living matter.
