Kentucky Fried Chicken was established in September 24, 1952, Salt Lake City, UT. It was founded by Colonel Sanders & Pete Harman. It was later changed to just KFC for a shorter name. Headquartered in Louisville, Kentucky, it is the world's second-largest restaurant chain after McDonald's, with over 30,000 locations globally in 150 countries as of April 2024.Â
The KFC Chicken bucket was first created in 1957 by Sanders himself. The journey of the bucket began back in 1957, when the Colonel called Pete to see if he wanted to buy 500 paper buckets that another franchisee had purchased from a travel salesman. Harman agreed and filled each bucket with 14 pieces of chicken, five rolls and a pint of gravy.
