Jazz Band

Jazz Ensemble

Hammond Middle School has a Jazz Band that meets after school on Tuesdays in the HMS band room.

The Jazz band rehearses from 3:20 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. No school bus transportation is provided.

Standard Jazz Ensemble instrumentation is:

• 5 trumpets

• 5 trombones

• 2-4 alto saxophones, 2 tenor saxophones, 2 baritone saxophones

• 2 piano/keyboards

• 3 percussion (drum set, vibraphone, auxiliary)

• 1 guitar

• 1 bass

If the number of interested students warrants a second jazz band, one will be added.

Due to the limited rehearsal time, students must commit to weekly attendance. The maximum number of absences from rehearsal is one unexcused, or two excused.
