Welcome to my portfolio! My name is Brianna Gibson and I have been a middle school teacher for 23 years. I have taught grades 6-8 over the course of my career in a variety of subjects including Reading, U.S. History, Inquiry and Innovation, and ELA. Currently, I am a sixth-grade ELA teacher. In my constant need to change and grow, a good friend suggested exploring Library Media and I knew it would be a great fit. Books, technology, and research—three of my favorite things!
This portfolio represents the learning and growth that I have made in my latest journey towards being a certified school librarian. It is a collection of artifacts that demonstrate my mastery of each component within the 2019 ALA/AASL/CAEP School Librarian Preparation Standards.
The library is a learning hub that removes barriers, ensures equitable access to resources, and promotes reading for personal and academic success.
The library supports diversity through collaborative, inclusive spaces that allow students and staff to learn and explore without barriers. Users are empowered with the skills, knowledge, and confidence to influence their community and lifelong learning. Equitable access to resources supports the HCPSS vision by building learners' confidence (AASL, 77).
