Tie Dye is  an American favorite. Just like  apple pie! It is a very very popular thing to do. Lots of people use it as stress reliever. As many people do it for fun some people do it as an art. People can even do tie dye for a living. Therefore you see lots of tie dye art. You can make tie dye shirts, dresses, sweaters, pants and so much more.

The popularity of tie dye all started in the 1960s  It started its popularity in the out there era. Tie die shirts were so popular that every where you went you saw someone with tie dye on. While people still wear tie dye today it is not nearly  as popular. The art of tie dye is beautiful. Many people look at tie dye as a piece of clothing. That thought is wrong though.

 Tie dye started out in China and Japan. The amazing invention had a drastic effect on America and other countries around the world. Tie dye was invented by Bandhani from India and Shibori from Japan. Every day people get smarter and find new ways to do stuff. The same happens with tie dye to. 

 You  never run out of designs. People come up with new designs every day. Kids enjoy tie dye very much. While it is in art it also is a fun and cool clothing to wear. 

How to make tie dye 

There are lots of ways to make tie dye. The most popular way to make tie dye is to start by prepping your materials. Then you have to take the white shirt and put it in water. Make sure you keep your shirt damp while doing the other steps.  After that mix the dye to get the color you want.

For  the next step fold your shirt or other type of clothing into the shape you want. There are many  ways to fold  your piece of clothing. Before you fold your shirt be sure to look at the different folds and patterns. Choose  your colors carefully  because some colors mix better then others. Once you choose your colors fold your clothes with rubber bands. 

Make sure the shirt is still damp and then place your colors in the order  you choose on the shirt between the rubber bands. Finally put the shirt (still folded) in cold water.  Then wash with soap and water. The last thing to do  is  wear your new creation.
