Steps for Successful Course Registration

1. Discuss Your Selections with Parents/Guardians:

   1. Students should share their course choices with their parents to ensure alignment with long-term goals. You can use the 4 year High School Plan , HCPSS Scheduling Website, and the 2025-2026 HCPSS Catalog of Approved Classes to help plan.

   2. Make thoughtful decisions today to enhance future opportunities.

2. Reflect on Your Goals and Aim for Balance in Your Schedule:

   1. Choose courses that support your academic, personal, and career aspirations.

   2. Consider interests, passions, and areas where you can challenge yourself.

   3. Balance rigorous courses with time for extracurricular activities, exercise, family, and rest.

3. Specific Requirements:

   1. From December 16- January 14- Register for 7 credits and 3 alternates. Directions

   2. Discuss course recommendations with teachers.

   3. Course Level Adjustment - As in years past, students and families can adjust their course level to something different from the initial teacher recommendation. This year, this can be completed electronically during the course requests window. These are the instructions and screencast on how students and families can make these changes. It is recommended and encouraged for students to discuss any changes with their teachers.

4. Special Programs or Adjustments:

   1. For dual enrollment, release time, or student aiding, select your 7 courses and 3 alternates, then complete the required additional forms. The forms will be available at a later date.

   2. To request a Career Academy, students will need to add the appropriate career academy classes in their course requests. Career Academy Information

Important Dates to Remember

December 2-10: Teachers discuss core course recommendations with students.

December 16- January 14: Students and family can add course requests in Synergy.

December 18: The December 18th Raider Time will be the HCPSS Scheduling screencast.

January 8: Elective Video will be shared with students during the Raider Time Lesson.

January 7 (snow date January 9): AHS Scheduling Night Event (In-person, 6–8 PM).

January 27 – February 14: Counselors will meet with students to confirm course selections.
