About Us

In 2016, we received a Creative Classroom Grant from the Hanover Education Foundation to implement a year-long kindness initiative called "A Passion for Kindness." The purpose of that project was to strengthen student communication and collaboration while emphasizing kindness through integrated content skills. The grant focused on a collaborative teaching environment between Mrs. Letter, our Instructional Technology Resource Teacher (ITRT) and Mrs. Cross, a fourth grade teacher at Mechanicsville Elementary School in Mechanicsville, VA.

Since that time, we have expanded our kindness efforts to include additional classrooms with funding provided by Renee's Cheerios Foundation. Our kindness initiatives have been showcased through district and local news broadcasts, at state and international conferences, and were spotlighted in the book, A Passion for Kindness: Making the World a Better Place to Lead, Love, and Learn.
