Participation Requirements: Learning in this course will occur as a result of lectures, assigned readings, supplemental videos, and concentrated study by the individual students, and will include class discussions, essays, quizzes, and projects. Students are expected to stay current with the course schedule, assignment due dates, lectures and assigned readings.
Students should log into Canvas daily to check for class assignments and updates from the instructor. All assignments are due on the assigned due date.
Plagiarism must be avoided at all times. This includes plagiarism of both published and unpublished information. All work submitted must be your own work unless the assignment was specified as group work. Students are expected to clearly cite references when using another author’s ideas. Please refer to the Harlingen CISD student handbook.

Late Work Policy: With the teacher's approval, assignments may be submitted late, subject to a five-point penalty per day beyond the due date. No assignments will be accepted after ten days. For extenuating circumstances, please contact the teacher directly to discuss possible accommodations.
For students involved in extracurricular activities, please ensure that your assignments are submitted prior to your scheduled trips. If you are not able to turn in your assignments prior to your scheduled trip, make arrangements with your teacher to determine a suitable submission deadline.
Academic Honesty Policy: Harlingen High School South expects all students to engage in academic pursuits in a manner that is above reproach. Students are expected to maintain complete honesty and integrity in their academic experiences both in and out of the classroom. Any student found guilty of dishonesty in any phase of academic work will be subject to disciplinary action by Harlingen High School South administration.
Harlingen High School South and its authorized representatives may initiate disciplinary proceedings against any student suspected of academic dishonesty. This includes, but is not limited to, cheating on examinations or other academic assignments, plagiarism, collusion, and misuse of resource materials.
All persons involved in academic dishonesty will be disciplined in accordance with Harlingen CISD regulations and procedures. Discipline may include, but not limited to: communication with parents or guardians regarding the incident and the resulting disciplinary actions; a discussion with the student regarding the nature of the dishonesty; a reduction in the grade for the assignment or examination involved, or a zero score if deemed appropriate.
