HCISD partners with UTRGV to provide real-world and classroom simulated trainings. Students take courses in education throughout their four-year journey, ending with a college level course in education at the UTRGV Harlingen Collegiate High campus.

Students at UTRGV Harlingen Collegiate High School are able to begin experiencing teaching by shadowing teachers in the classroom all the way through designing and teaching lessons with students.

Students in the Aspiring Teacher Pathway benefit from instruction by experienced educators in their education classes, additionally students are afforded the opportunity to enroll in a college-level course at UTRGV.
Throughout high school, students in the Aspiring Teacher Pathway take education courses that equip them for hands-on teaching an developing skills like crafting their own lesson plans.
Students gain hands-on experience by visiting district elementary schools, where they put the teaching strategies and lesson plans learned in their education classes into action.
