HCISD Information Literacy Centers (ILC) 

We know that the ILCs are the heart of each school community.  They include student-friendly collaborative and creative spaces.  Library Media Specialists nurture our students with the love of reading and learning while providing access to computers, maker spaces, flexible seating, and so much more. 

Positive Student Outcomes

Our ILC's are a place of opportunity.  Students are able to:

• Check out books

• Learn about digital resources including eBooks

• Acquire technology skills

• Participate in various reading competitions such Battle of the Books

Student-centered Learning

We put an emphasis on student's learning by:

• Allowing student choice

• Providing collaborative spaces

• Curating book collections, digital resources, and tools

• Empowering students to become creators

Extension of the Classroom

LMS' work collaboratively with teachers and staff to:

• Teach relevant lessons

• Engage the students

• Support student's personal growth

• Encourage collaboration, reflection, and creativity
