Amy Szymanski, M.Ed. has over 25 years of experience in the field of education, primarily in the area of special education. Ms. Szymanski holds a level of expertise in the areas of secondary transition for students with disabilities and dropout prevention and has presented on this topic at the local, state, and national levels. Emily Jacobs has been an interpreter for over twenty years, working as a seasonal park ranger with the National Park Service, an instructor at an outdoor science school, and a naturalist at a nature center. She is a Certified Interpretive Trainer with Guide and Host Trainer sanctions and a Certified Interpretive Guide. She holds a Masters of Science in Natural Resources with an emphasis in Interpretation/Environmental Education from the University of Wisconsin Stevens Point and joined the NAI staff as Certification and Training Program Manager in 2012. Joshua Stephens is the instructor for the Lake Shore Compact’s Urban Agriculture Career-Technical Education program he created in 2019. Before this, he spent 13 years as a social studies educator for Euclid City Schools while completing his doctorate in urban education. Josh earned his undergraduate and graduate degrees from the College of Agriculture, Food, and Environmental Sciences at the Ohio State University. That education provided the necessary academic background to launch the CTE program. In addition, his practical experience as the owner/ operator of Urban Renaissance Farms has equipped him with the applied agricultural knowledge and skills needed to instruct his students to become a part of the urban agriculture movement. As a part of his program, students earn various industry credentials, including NAI’s Certified Interpretive Guide. In addition, Josh is his school’s FFA advisor, leads a pack of Cub Scouts, and is a father to five and a grandfather to two.

Brenna Bartlett serves as an Assistant Director in the Office of Career-Technical Education at the Ohio Department of Education. Cassandra Palsgrove is the Director of the Office of Graduate Success in the Center for Teaching, Leading, and Learning at the Ohio Department of Education. The Office of Graduate Success is a critical enabler to supporting the state’s efforts to increase annually the percentage of high school graduates who, are enrolled and succeeding in a post-high school learning experience; serving in the military; earning a living wage, or engaged in a self-sustaining vocation.
Cassie currently is focusing on projects that engage stakeholders and partners from higher education, business & industry, workforce and other state agencies to help support school counselors, teachers, and school and district leaders to develop and implement systemic PreK-12 strategies to help students consider their post-high school paths and ensure they are well prepared to pursue them.
As a classroom career-technical educator prior to her work at the department, she engaged students in meaningful experiential learning and career exploration opportunities through Agricultural Education.
