The IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) is not actually a curriculum. It is a framework for delivering the curriculum we are tasked with at the local level. Below you will find links to information about the integral components of that framework:
a balanced curriculum through the Progamme Model,
the emphasis on academic character through the IB Learner Profile,
our focus on the transferable and collaborative skills in our Approaches to Teaching and Learning,
information on how our use of conceptual and contextual approaches promote International Mindedness,
ways we promote learning beyond the classroom walls through Community Engagement,
wherever possible, making connections between disciplines to give opportunities for Interdiciplinary Learning.
As an IB faculty, our continuous goal is to take the curriculum provided by the state of Tennessee and the Hamilton County School district and integrate the IB MYP components into our unit designs and lesson plans in all subjects across all grade levels. The curriculum itself is the content standards we teach in each of the courses we offer at SMMHS. An overview of those courses are found further below.
There are 8 subject groups, and students take all of these in each year of the MYP.
