Happy Friday!! I hope everyone stays safe and warm-up this weekend. I pray that the weather doesn't have a negative impact on anyone.
Students are receiving a weekly video assignment each week to check their progress and all me to give feedback on their playing. Several students have not completed the play-off that was due this past Wednesday. Please double check with your child that they have submitted their assignment. They have another play-off due this coming Wednesday.

6th Grade Band:
Items to Practice: Concert F and Ab Scales, Mechanical Monsters, Pixels
Assignment Due by Wednesday: Video assignment of measures 1 - 20 of Mechanical Monsters. Posted in Google Classroom.
7th/8th Grade Band:
Items to Practice: 2 octave Concert F, Bb, Eb, and Ab scales, Heritage Days (ms. 1 - 64), Pandora (ms. 1 - 53)
Assignment Due by Wednesday: Video assignment of Pandora measure 1 - 23. Posted in Google Classroom.
Hamilton County Honor Band - 7th and 8th Grade Students
The Hamilton County Honor Band is an audition only ensemble made up of students from all over Hamilton County. It is a great way for students to perform new music and perform in an ensemble will other similarly skilled students from around our area. The audition involves performing scales (which we work on in class) and sightreading a short selection of music. This is an extremely fun event for students to be a part of !! Please encourage your child to take part in this opportunity.
Registration forms are due next week. If money is an issue for signing up, please reach out to me and we will make sure your student gets to audition.
Important Dates
January 26 - Hamilton County Honor Band registration forms due (7th and 8th grade only).
February 12 - Concert Camp for 7th/8th. This is an in-school field trip from 7:45 to 12:00. We will be bringing in area instructors to work with students on their CPA music.
February 19 - Hamilton County Honor Band Auditions at Loftis Middle School (7th and 8th grade students registered to audition).
April 1 or 2 - 7th/8th Grade Band CPA performance. I will be given exact date and time at a later date and will share that with you ASAP. Parents are allowed to attend the performance to listen to their students.
April 27 - 8th Grade Band performance with the Ooltewah High School Band. The performance will be held at Christ United Methodist Church on East Brainerd Road. A little will be going home in the next few weeks with more details.
May 5 - OMS Band Spring Concert (6th, 7th, and 8th grade students)
May 8 - Tentative date for the Lake Winnie trip (6th, 7th, and 8th grade students). More details will come out in late February/early March.
