About the Director

Chris Chance - Director of Bands

Mr. Chance is a native of Rogersville, TN. and a 1999 graduate of Cherokee High School.  After high school, Mr. Chance joined the Air National Guard Band of the South in Knoxville as a trumpet player and has proudly served for the last 24 years.  After basic training, he attended the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and received his Bachelor of Music Education in 2004.

Mr. Chance spent 2004 - 2008 as the Director of Bands at Morristown East High School in Morristown, TN.  In the fall of 2008, Mr. Chance took over the band programs at Dade Middle School and Dade County High School in Trenton, GA.  As Director of Bands in Dade County, Mr. Chance took the band on numerous trip and performance events to include New York City, Philadelphia, Universal Studios in Orlando, and to perform in the Chicago Thanksgiving Day Parade in 2016.  The bands consistently received ratings of Excellent and Superior at both concert and marching festivals throughout his tenure.

Mr. Chance's professional affiliations include the National Association for Music Education, East Tennessee Band and Orchestra Association, the International Trumpet Guild, and the Georgia Music Educators Association.

Mr. Chance has been married to his wonderful wife Heather for 20 years and they have two amazing children, Makaela and Bradley.

He looks forward to making a positive impact on student achievement and on the Ooltewah Middle School culture.
